Trinity was founded in 1979 by Artistic Director Mark Howard, a two-time Emmy award-winning choreographer. Trinity is the reigning 2007-2008 gold medalist team and has the honor of being the only North American school to have ever won the gold. Trinity has garnered an unprecedented 28 world titles for the United States. Trinity has achieved this impressive honor seven times in the past two decades. Trinity’s world-renowned program uniquely centers on the empowerment of each child, with Irish dance lessons focused on self-confidence and choice, allowing each child to decide their own level of participation. Students range in age from 4-18 and are never required to compete, but are always given the opportunity. Instructors use a distinct, noncompetitive teaching method that places children on a “journey” through Ireland, teaching the beauty of the dance form as well as cultural and life lessons along the way.
The Trinity Academy of Irish Dance has locations in Illinois on Chicago’s Northwest side, Lakeview and South Loop neighborhoods; and in Arlington Heights, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, St. Charles, Western Springs and Wilmette as well as in Wisconsin.
